Research and Education

The Thomas R. Brown Foundations have provided grants in support of educational institutions and programs, seeing a natural link between investing in research and education and building a brighter future.

University of Arizona

The Thomas R. Brown Foundations have had a longstanding partnership with the University of Arizona. UArizona graduates were key in the success of Burr-Brown. Strengthening university programs and faculty in engineering, management, economics education and science is a way to give back to a community partner that made much of Burr-Brown's success possible. The University drives tremendous economic development for the state and southern Arizona and is an excellent place to invest.

We have several endowments at the University of Arizona for research, education, and innovation. We also celebrate the instructional talents of educators working with undergraduate students through the Gerald J. Swanson Prize for Teaching Excellence.

The Foundations believe that the UArizona is one of the most important assets of our community. By supporting the best students, as well as the best faculty and great programs, we are making an investment in the future of our community and supporting the leaders of the future. Below are the scholarship programs supported by the Foundations:

Pima Community College

The Brown Foundations have supported PCC since the inception of our grant-making. As a foundation aiming to create opportunities for upward economic mobility for Tucsonans through education, we believe maintaining a strong community college is crucial for our regional prosperity.

Grants

The Brown Foundations are fortunate to partner with many amazing organizations and programs that are working to improve the quality of education in the community. Our educational grants are in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and reflect the belief that education and training are fundamental to increasing advancement and productivity for individuals and our community as a whole.
