VOTE: Immigration

As a teacher, you have the most important job in our country because you inspire people to think critically and have a positive impact on the world. Voices On The Economy (VOTE) is a Tucson-based, award-winning program that teaches educators to present diverse perspectives in a balanced and accurate way so that students can make up their own minds about what they believe and find their own voices on the issues.

Join us for a free, one-day online workshop that will delve into the issue of immigration, looking at it from the conservative, liberal, and radical perspectives. What are their different policy ideas? (Merit-based system? Pathway to citizenship? Comprehensive planned immigration?) How does each perspective analyze the problem? Hands-on exercises will bring the material alive, and we will share materials you can use to bring these ideas back to your classroom.

No previous knowledge of economics is required. All attendees must have internet access on a device with a camera and microphone. Appropriate for all subject areas and levels of educators from middle school through university. Lunch will be provided via Grubhub. You will earn a certificate for 6.0 hours of professional development.
